The Legacy of Akrapovič: Racing Roots, Titanium Engineering
Born in 1990 from Slovenian racing enthusiast Igor Akrapovič, the company began in a small garage making exhausts for his own motorcycles and friends’ race bikes. Frustrated by the poor quality of available aftermarket systems, Igor engineered his first high‑performance exhaust using lightweight materials like titanium and carbon fiber.
Initially named Skorpion, legal issues with Ford’s Scorpio led to the rebrand to Akrapovič in 1997—coinciding with their first major success: a Kawasaki team win in WSBK thanks to their sysyem.
