Novitec Exhaust Electronics Explained
Novitec sells four small electronic modules alongside its exhausts. Their names sound alike, but each one does a different job. This guide explains what each one does and how to tell which you need.

Keeps the car's computer happy after you change the catalytic converters, so you don't get a check-engine light or catalyst warning. | When you install Novitec sport catalysts, catalyst-replacement pipes or sport/race downpipes. |

Your car expects to find exhaust valves. If the new exhaust has none, Novitronic stands in for them so the car doesn't report a valve fault. | When you install a Novitec race exhaust without valves ("without flap regulation"). Newer models have a gasoline particulate filter (GPF or OPF) in the exhaust. GTronic stops the filter error messages when a Novitec exhaust replaces it. | On recent models with a GPF/OPF (for example the Ferrari Amalfi, 849 Testarossa and 12Cilindri), when the product page lists it as needed. |
Which ones do I need?
- Valved exhaust that keeps the factory cats: nothing is required. Add Switchtronic if you want a button to control the sound.
- Race exhaust without valves: Novitronic is required (check whether it's already included).
- Sport catalysts, cat-replacement pipes or sport downpipes: add Tectronic.
- Newer car with a GPF/OPF: add GTronic when the exhaust listing says it's needed.
- Want valve control and run sport cats? For some models we offer a Tectronic + Switchtronic bundle at a better price.
Good to know
- Each module is made by Novitec for a specific model, so always order the version listed for your exact car.
- Catalyst, downpipe and particulate-filter changes (and the Tectronic and GTronic modules that go with them) are for off-road and competition use only and are not CARB legal. See each product page for full emissions notices.
